Former Mallorcan tennis player Rafa Nadal has once again distanced himself from reports linking his name to a potential run for the presidency of Real Madrid.

"Although I have a good relationship with Enrique Riquelme, I have the utmost respect for Florentino, for everything he is and has been to Real Madrid," he said at a press conference in Manacor, after opening his new museum.

In response to questions from the media, he stated that he understands speculation is inevitable but wanted to make it "clear" that he is not "in that position or in that situation." "I don’t know what might happen in the future; right now, I’m focused on my own things," the Manacor native added.

He added that he understands why elections are being called so that the members can decide. He also stated that he doesn’t know if Riquelme will run.

In this regard, he avoided speculating on what Riquelme could bring to Real Madrid, emphasizing that it would be a new venture. “As with all new ventures, things have to be proven,” he maintained.
