The great festival celebrating one of Mallorca’s most iconic dishes is back. The second edition of the Palma Variat Fair will take place on September 26 and 27 at the Pere Garau market, with an expanded selection of stalls and a program designed for all ages. The event will feature a total of 13 stalls, live music, and a variety of fun and entertainment activities aimed especially at families.
This was explained by the Palma City Council, which has detailed some of the main new features of this second edition. Among these, the expansion of the area reserved for the fair’s booths stands out, a measure that will allow for hosting a greater number of visitors and improving the space layout. Additionally, the option to purchase tickets online in advance has been introduced, with the goal of “optimizing the service and minimizing wait times as much as possible.”
During his speech, Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Natural Environment, Healthy Living and Markets, Llorenç Bauzá, also announced that, starting with this year’s edition, the Palma Variat Fair will be considered a Municipal Interest Event. The proposal will be presented to the Government Council this Wednesday for its approval.
As Bauzá explained, this declaration constitutes a recognition and reflects “the firm support of the Palma City Council for an event that had a stellar start last year and that attracted an extraordinary number of visitors.” The councilor also noted that projections for this second edition suggest an increase in attendance, thus consolidating the fair in the city’s event calendar.
The Variat Fair is organized by the Association of Merchants of the Pere Garau Market and Square, with the support of the Palma City Council and the Council of Mallorca, as well as in collaboration with various sponsors, shops, and companies. The initiative aims to showcase one of Mallorca’s most characteristic culinary specialties and, at the same time, turn the Pere Garau market into a meeting point for locals and visitors throughout the weekend.
The program will begin this Saturday, September 26, at 7:00 PM and will run until midnight. The event will continue on Sunday, September 27, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with a day that combines food, music, and leisure activities to enjoy with family and friends.
