Starting this Thursday, families in the Balearic Islands can apply for the 'Nanny Check' to cover the costs of summer camps and summer schools, with a maximum amount of 1,000 euros per child.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Labor, Public Function, and Social Dialogue, the application period for Program 3 opens this week. This program is designed to cover the costs of summer camps, summer schools, Easter and Christmas camps, as well as other childcare services—both public and private—in the Balearic Islands, with the aim of facilitating a better work-life balance.
The application period, which opens this Thursday, will close on October 9. Regarding the specific requirements for this program, the Balearic Government reminds applicants that the activity must have been carried out in the Balearic Islands during an eligible non-school period, with the expense duly justified.
If families have also applied for grants from Program 2, they must declare the amount of the expense claimed for each child. Under this "Daycare Vouchers" program, the programs are compatible, and applications can be submitted for all of them.
1,000 EUROS PER CHILD
The maximum combined amount for "morning school" and vacation camps and schools is 1,000 euros per child, which can be distributed equally between the eligible activities of the two programs.
About 1,400 families in the Balearic Islands have applied for the 'Babysitter Check' to cover the costs of the morning school program. The deadline to apply for this grant, which subsidizes the costs associated with care and supervision services provided in educational centers or related facilities (including daycare centers and special education centers during the school term), was July 31.
As in the first edition, Program 1 of this grant continues to offer a subsidy to cover the costs of wages and social security contributions resulting from the hiring of a domestic worker for childcare. Therefore, each family can receive a maximum of 4,000 euros through this program, for which applications can be submitted between October 1 and 31, 2026.
REQUIREMENTS
The general requirements to apply for the grant are to provide proof of registration and residence in the Balearic Islands at the time of application and for the entire eligible period; demonstrate that the applicant is working or in a similar situation, either as a self-employed person or for an employer, which justifies the need for a work-life balance; have a per capita family income of less than 30,000 euros annually; be up to date on tax obligations; and keep the supporting documentation for five years.
Individuals who are in any circumstance that disqualifies them from receiving grants, who are not up to date on their tax or Social Security obligations, or who have pending repayment obligations are not eligible.
Grants are awarded in the order of receipt of complete and valid applications, without comparison between applications, until the available funds are exhausted. Each application will result in a separate procedure, with the corresponding decision on the award and payment.
DOCUMENTATION
The required documentation includes the application form and affidavits, a bank account certificate, the family book or equivalent document, and documentation proving the status of a single-parent family, large family, guardianship, or foster care, if applicable.
