On Friday, the Regional Government declared the Menorca industrial business incubator—which the Balearic Islands Regional Development Agency will promote in the Llinàritx industrial park in Es Mercadal—a project of special strategic regional interest.

The government's spokesperson, Antoni Costa, explained at the press conference following the Government Council meeting that the new facility was created with the goal of facilitating the creation and consolidation of small industrial businesses and of offering self-employed individuals and SMEs a space adapted to the specific needs of manufacturing activity.

Currently, Menorca does not have a public facility of this type specializing in industrial business projects.

Specifically, the Government has highlighted that the project provides for a supervised incubator model in which selected companies will have their own space suitable for their activity and will receive support linked to their business plan for a period that, as a general rule, will not exceed three years.

The center will have the capacity to host at least six companies, each of which will have an administrative area and a workshop or production space.

Additionally, the facility will have a reception area and offices, restrooms and locker rooms, outdoor storage areas, and a common area for training, presentations, and activities that promote cooperation among the companies.

Management will be the responsibility of the Regional Development Agency of the Balearic Islands, and the center will be aimed primarily at self-employed industrialists and new small industrial companies from Menorca.

The incubator will bring together production facilities, shared services, and business support under one roof, with the goal of reducing the risk that new projects face during their early stages and facilitating their growth.

It will also offer support for prototyping, testing, energy efficiency, digitalization, logistics, and compliance with industry-specific regulations.

The regional government has stated that the project's objectives include modernizing and digitizing Menorca's industry, improving the competitiveness of businesses, revitalizing the Llinàritx industrial area and economic activity in Es Mercadal, and helping to attract talent, investment, and new business opportunities.

It also aims to foster collaboration between companies in sectors closely linked to Menorca's economy, such as the agri-food sector, the nautical sector, sustainable construction, fashion and footwear, and the metallurgical industry.
