On Wednesday, the regional government unveiled the “Producte fet aquí” seal, a label designed to highlight products made in the Balearic Islands and raise the profile of the local business community committed to manufacturing and sustaining economic activity in the region.
The president of the regional government, Marga Prohens, stated that the Balearic industry “has managed to survive the challenges inherent to an island region, compete despite the distance, create well-known brands, and preserve traditional crafts and knowledge across generations.”
The “Producte fet aquí” seal—“product made here”—will clearly identify products made 100% in the Balearic Islands and make it easier for consumers to recognize their origin. The label will be associated with companies and professionals across various production sectors, including crafts, manufacturing, and activities such as costume jewelry.
Prohens emphasized that the label is a way to recognize “the efforts of companies, producers, and professionals who remain committed to working and producing in the Balearic Islands.” “When we buy a product made here, we’re not just purchasing a product; we’re also acknowledging the work of the people behind it, supporting our local businesses, and helping to sustain economic activity and employment,” she noted.
The president also defended the need to continue moving toward a more diversified economy and affirmed that the archipelago has a long tradition of industry and craftsmanship. “We want this sector to have a future, for businesses to have more opportunities, and for industry to continue gaining prominence in our economy,” she said.
During this legislative term, the regional government has already allocated more than 25 million euros in grants and initiatives aimed at the industrial and construction sectors. During this period, grant programs have been launched to support the modernization and digitization of businesses, and the call for major investments has been expanded to include the construction sector as well.
The government believes that strengthening industry and supporting companies that manufacture in the Islands is also a way to move toward a more diversified economy that is better equipped to respond to changes in the international environment.
