Tapas Weekend: what to do in Ibiza?

We’ve selected the best plans to help you make the most of your next weekend on the White Island.

DJ Julia Sandstorm.

Here at Tapas, we’ve gathered the best ideas to make the most of your weekend in Ibiza, enjoying a world of pleasure through cultural and culinary experiences, parties, events, and museums. Grab your calendar and take note of our weekly suggestions.

Friday the 21st

We’ll start our weekend in Ibiza at La Gaia, the fine dining restaurant of the Ibiza Gran Hotel, where chef Óscar Molina transforms the island’s products into a haute cuisine experience. With a Michelin star since 2021 and two Repsol Suns, his cuisine is based on respect for local produce, seasonality, and craftsmanship, without sacrificing creativity and modernity.

His cuisine can be experienced through the Illa tasting menu, which revisits some of Molina’s most iconic creations and the most notable moments in La Gaia’s history, and the Horitzó menu, conceived as an exploration of a constantly evolving Ibiza through new and unexpected flavors.

This summer, La Gaia will also host ‘Krug in the Kitchen, an initiative by Maison Krug that celebrates culinary experimentation and the pairing of champagne and gastronomy. The experience includes a tasting of four expressions of Krug: Krug Grande Cuvée 172nd Edition, Krug Grande Cuvée 173rd Edition, Krug Rosé 29th Edition, and Krug 2011 – accompanied by dishes such as red shrimp with garlic and Béarnaise sauce, a dried fish salad with octopus garum and tomato snow, grilled artichokes with bone pil-pil and Iberian broth, or Mediterranean lobster with egg and purple potatoes.

On Friday evening, we’ll continue enjoying island cuisine at a Greek restaurant you simply have to try while you’re in Ibiza. Called Elia, this restaurant opens onto a terrace overlooking the cliffs of Destino Five Ibiza, offering panoramic sea views and one of the island’s most iconic sunsets.

The menu focuses on dishes that showcase the most recognizable flavors of the Aegean, designed for sharing: the best catch of the day, succulent grilled meats, and a vibrant selection of starters made with ingredients imported directly from Greece. All of this is accompanied by a curated wine selection, a house cocktail menu, and live DJs, with Dalt Vila and Formentera as a backdrop. From Saturday to Thursday, the nights are extended thanks to the Elia Supper Club, with free entry to Pacha Ibiza with every reservation.

Saturday 22

Without compromising on culinary standards, on Saturday we’ll stroll through downtown Ibiza until we arrive at Omakase by Walt, a small and intimate sushi bar with dim lighting, a Japanese aesthetic, and a wooden counter with only ten seats. There, chef Walter Sidoravicius – a Venezuelan of Lithuanian and German descent who trained in various parts of the world – oversees the gastronomic experience.

The only menu is an omakase based on seasonal ingredients and traditional Edomae-style Japanese techniques, prepared in front of the diners. The menu includes sashimi, cold dishes, nigiri served in two courses, and more elaborate creations, all accompanied by a special selection of Japanese sake. The meal lasts about two and a half hours, and all guests begin at the same time, in keeping with Japanese punctuality.

Sam Divine is set to light up Ibiza’s nightlife with his ‘555’ concept at Cova Santa Ibiza, where he will host four special events this summer as part of his first residency on the island. The concept is based on a ‘back to basics’ philosophy: long sets, carefully selected artists, and a unique energy that makes it the true benchmark of the island. Get your pass here.

Sunday 23

On Sunday, we will experience both sides of Ibiza in a single day: the getaway side, of peace and relaxation, and the party side, with electronic music. We’ll experience the former from a table at Casa Maca, a small restaurant located inside a boutique hotel, where you can enjoy international cuisine made with local and organic ingredients grown on their own organic farm. On its bright, open terrace, guests, locals, and visitors alike can enjoy everything from fresh meat and fish to flavorful, open-fire-cooked vegetables, with Dalt Vila as a backdrop.

As evening falls, we’ll get the party started again with Between Worlds, the event that brings together Brunch Electronik Ibiza and The Gardens of Babylon at 528 Ibiza, in the hills of Benimussa. The party offers a much more elevated – and spiritual – experience, blending electronic music with nature and artistic expression, and runs from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

This Sunday, August 23, their soundscape will unfold on the Garden Stage, with Bob Moses in a club set, Henrik Schwarz live, Julia Sandstorm b2b Share and Bakean, while the Forest Stage will feature a hypnotic set from Cristina Tosio and a b2b set from Landikhan and Omer Tayar. Hurry and buy your ticket (here) before they sell out.
