Nômade Temple Ibiza, the new retreat and cultural center located in the wild north of Ibiza, in the Portinatx area, has been presented to institutional representatives and members of Ibiza society. Instead of a conventional formal event, the occasion was conceived as the launch of a space designed to be in a constant state of transformation, with the goal of showcasing an experiential concept that seeks to coexist with the landscape in harmony with nature and the local community.
The event began with a brief welcome speech by Benjamin Cowtan, director of Nômade Temple Ibiza, who shared the fundamental values of this bohemian and inclusive temple with the attendees. During his speech, Cowtan explained the philosophy of this hotel, which goes beyond the conventional concept, focusing on emotional design, cultural and wellness programs, and integration with the local community as key distinguishing features compared to other accommodation options on the island.
The hotel consists of 182 studios, suites, lofts, and villas, designed through the reuse and reinterpretation of an existing structure. By preserving original elements, such as the arches of the former building, the project reflects its commitment to minimizing environmental impact and returning the land to nature. In this sense, Cowtan emphasized that the property prioritizes depth of experience and a sense of spaciousness over the building’s mere volume, creating spaces designed to be lived in and to foster social interaction.
The culinary offering plays a central role in the project. The culinary ecosystem is divided into spaces, each with its own unique character: Tavla, conceived as the ‘traveler’s table’ and a living archive of flavors; Café Libre, a sanctuary of everyday culture; and Kuu Jū, an intimate bar where Japanese techniques meet Mediterranean ingredients. Right on the water’s edge, 4FU3GOS (La Popular) specializes in the authenticity of open flames, embers, and locally sourced fish.
In keeping with this sense of roots, the hotel has worked with local artisans and builders, incorporating native materials such as white stone, juniper wood, and handmade terracotta tiles into its architecture.
Each day, the hotel offers between eight and nine activities focused on physical and emotional well-being. The sessions are seamlessly integrated into the environment and range from sea baths with sound therapy to guided yoga sessions led by local professionals who have lived on the island for years and understand its energy. In this way, Nômade aims to ensure that its activities are not isolated from the broader context, but rather forge a genuine connection and have a positive impact on the community and social fabric of North Ibiza.
Cowtan highlighted the strong pace of bookings since the complex opened, with particular interest from markets such as the Americas—with notable growth from Mexico and Brazil—the United Kingdom, and Europe, at a time characterized by the redistribution of international tourist flows. In this regard, he expressed particular satisfaction with the news of the new United direct flight between New York and Ibiza, a connection he described as a significant step forward for North American tourism on the island.
