A runway decked out in white: Adlib Ibiza celebrates its 55th anniversary

An Ibizan journey. Under the “Blanc” concept, architecture, light, and the Mediterranean merge into a single language. A landscape built on simplicity, where white is not just a color, but a way of understanding the island.

Anyone who has visited Ibiza will recognize that indescribable feeling that permeates every corner of its coastline. The calm of the sea, the light reflecting off the whitewashed facades, and the unhurried pace that still characterizes parts of the island have made white much more than just an aesthetic feature. It is a symbol linked to its history, its culture, and an identity that has managed to remain recognizable over time.

That Mediterranean essence was the star of the show tonight at the Port of Ibiza. The Adlib Fashion Show celebrated its 55th anniversary with “Blanc,” an edition that paid tribute to the color that best represents the island and to a way of creating fashion that has made craftsmanship and authenticity its hallmarks.

Model Laura Ponte (Vigo, age 52), the patron of this year’s event, highlighted during the presentation Adlib Ibiza’s ability to stay relevant without losing sight of its roots. The model admitted she was surprised to discover that it is Spain’s oldest fashion show and emphasized the importance of preserving creativity, artisan workshops, and traditional techniques in a context marked by the fast pace of today’s fashion. “Maintaining something with such a clear and defined identity isn’t easy,” she noted.

This legacy was also highlighted by Juan Duyos, president of the Spanish Fashion Creators Association (ACME), who championed the value of Adlib Ibiza as a unique approach to fashion, closely tied to the island’s landscape, culture, and history.

True to its motto, “Dress however you like, but with style,” the runway show featured the collections of twelve designers who reinterpret the Adlib brand from different perspectives, while maintaining a common thread: craftsmanship, fine fabrics, and a deeply Mediterranean identity. A fashion show where references to traditional Ibizan attire coexisted with the influence of the free spirit that, for decades, has been part of the island’s fashion history.

María Fajarnés, the Island Council of Ibiza’s Councilor for Economic Development, Municipal Cooperation, and Human Resources, noted that this year’s event commemorated not only the 55th anniversary of the catwalk but also one of Ibiza’s most recognizable symbols. White, she explained, represents the light, tranquility, and natural beauty of the island—an image associated with the Mediterranean and the whitewashed houses that define its landscape.

The collections were presented last Saturday, June 6, at Plaça de sa Riba in the Port of Ibiza, at a free fashion show open to the public until capacity was reached. Those who could not attend followed the show live on TEF and IB3. Models Eva Santos, Lucía López, Neus Bermejo, and Vitoria Mota walked the runway, along with the current Miss World Spain, Elisabeth Reynés, as a guest model.

The event also brought together several well-known figures from the national scene, including Rubén Cortada, Lidia Torrent, Jaime Astrain, Manuel Díaz “El Cordobés,” Virginia Troconis, José Lamuño, and Raquel Perera. The fashion show was hosted by journalist Isabel Jiménez.
