A total of 67,535 residents of the Balearic Islands traveled abroad last April, most of them to countries such as Italy (12,021) and France (10,945).
This is evident from the experimental statistics on tourism tracking via mobile phones published on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Italy and France, the top destinations for Balearic Islanders, were followed by Germany (7,541), the United Kingdom (7,155), Portugal (5,513), Morocco (2,588), the Netherlands (2,582), Austria (1,622), Belgium (1,385), and Poland (1,202).
As for domestic tourism, a total of 152,400 residents of the archipelago visited another autonomous community during the month of April.
Leading the list were Catalonia (35,410) and Andalusia (29,423), followed by the Community of Madrid (24,817), the Valencian Community (20,425), Castile and León (6,569), Castile-La Mancha (5,425), Galicia (4,840), Asturias (4,300), the Canary Islands (4,259), and the Basque Country (4,095).
Meanwhile, 199,451 Spaniards traveled to the Balearic Islands last April, most of them from Catalonia (62,442) and the Community of Madrid (38,080). The remaining visitors were from the Valencian Community (28,397), Andalusia (19,078), the Basque Country (9,887), Castile and León (6,625), Galicia (5,792), Castile-La Mancha (5,279), Murcia (4,837), and Aragon (4,690).
The INE statistics on foreign tourists visiting the Balearic Islands are only updated through December 2025.
During that period, 207,317 foreign tourists visited the archipelago, the majority of whom—93,198—were German nationals.
