Five luxury yachts for viewing the 2026 total solar eclipse

The newly christened “Aqua Lares,” formerly known as “Legend,” in Greenland, could be the most sought-after ticket in the sailing world this year for the total solar eclipse next August. The yacht has just completed a major refit and is now setting sail as the latest addition to the Aqua Expeditions fleet.

Unfortunately, that opportunity has already been taken. At least 15 full charters of the yacht have already been booked for this expedition vessel between now and 2027, as Francesco Galli Zugaro, founder and CEO of Aqua Expeditions, explained to me during a video call.

On August 12, 2026, Europe will witness its first total solar eclipse since 1999. The date also coincides with the continent’s peak sailing season, and the path of totality over parts of Greenland and Spain makes superyachts the ideal platforms from which to enjoy the phenomenon.

“On the open sea, far from the city lights and distractions, a superyacht becomes a front-row seat to a solar eclipse—one shared in comfort, privacy, and unhurried moments with the people who matter most,” says Sophie Holmes, a charter broker at Burgess.

Although all signs point to the charter market being particularly busy in 2026, there are still yachts available for rent along the eclipse path. Here are five of the best:

“Come Together”

There’s no better place to watch the total solar eclipse aboard Amels’ “Come Together” than its 27-square-meter sun deck. Even at full capacity—12 guests—everyone will have plenty of room to find the perfect spot from which to gaze at the sky.

As the moon slowly comes between the Earth and the Sun, you can relax on the elevated foredeck with its cushioned loungers, cool off in the jacuzzi, or take a dip in the Mediterranean from its 38-square-meter swim platform. Built in 2022, this 196.85-foot (59.9-meter) yacht will be available for charter in the Balearic Islands this summer with Y.CO, starting at 490,000 euros per week.

“Aziza”

“Aziza” is permanently moored at Port Adriano in Mallorca, which means that her captain and crew know the best vantage points in the area like the back of their hands. You can design a complete charter itinerary that, in addition to securing you a front-row seat on August 12, includes lesser-known coves and anchorages throughout the Balearic Islands.

There, you can enjoy some of the best features of this 134.2-foot (40.9-meter) yacht, such as its beach club, spacious sun deck, and wide variety of water toys. “Aziza” is available for charter through Burgess starting at 130,000 euros per week.

“RoMa”

Enjoy unobstructed 360-degree views of the Balearic Islands’ horizon aboard the “RoMa,” one of the most sought-after charter yachts and particularly well-suited for families. It features a wide selection of water toys, including a slide that connects the sun deck to the sea, and a crew dedicated to sparking the imagination of our youngest guests.

This 203-foot (61.8 m) yacht, which can accommodate 12 guests in six cabins, also features a PADI-certified dive center, allowing guests to admire the majesty of nature both above and below the waterline. “RoMa” is available for charter through Northrop & Johnson starting at 450,000 euros per week.

“Perseus”

Named after a figure from Greek mythology and a constellation in the night sky, chartering the “Perseus” to witness the total solar eclipse seems almost as if it were written in the stars. This 163.4-foot (49.8 m) Perini Navi sailing yacht accommodates 10 guests in five cabins and combines all the luxury of a high-end yacht with the romance of sailing.

It features a wide selection of inflatables and water toys and is available for charter in the Balearic Islands with Cecil Wright starting at 185,000 euros per week.

“Haze 2”

“Haze 2” is a striking newly built yacht, launched in 2025 by Cantiere delle Marche and available for charter through Fraser. This “pocket explorer” is just as at home in remote waters as it is in the Mediterranean, where it will be based this summer.

It can accommodate up to 12 guests in the utmost comfort, including a jacuzzi on the sun deck, and features a contemporary design with clean lines. The yacht has also been nominated as a finalist in two categories of the 2026 BOAT Design & Innovation Awards, which will be held in February. Guests will thus have the opportunity to experience one of the most spectacular astronomical events of the year aboard one of the most notable launches of the past 12 months. Weekly rates start at $130,000 (€108,670).
