This Wednesday, Palma will host one of the summer’s main musical events with the Alejandro Sanz concert at the Son Moix stadium, which will begin at 10:00 PM. The Madrid-born singer returns to the island as part of his ‘¿Y ahora qué?’ tour, with which he is performing at major venues across Spain and reconnecting with an audience that continues to fill venues more than three decades after the start of his career.
A winner of four Grammy Awards and 25 Latin Grammy Awards, Alejandro Sanz embarks on this new tour with a repertoire that combines his most recent songs with some of his classic pieces: the hits that have made him one of the most recognizable voices in Hispanic music. Songs like ‘Corazón partío,’ ‘Amiga mía,’ ‘Mi soledad y yo,‘ ‘Y si fuera ella,‘ and ‘No es lo mismo‘ are regular staples of his concerts, songs that have been part of the lives of several generations of fans.
The concert in Palma also marks a new chapter in the artist’s relationship with Mallorca. Throughout his career, Sanz has performed on the island on several occasions, where he has always received a remarkable response from the audience. His last visit to Mallorca was more than a decade ago, so there is much anticipation among fans in the Balearic Islands to see him again on a big stage.
Anticipating a large turnout, the Palma City Council and EMT have put special measures in place to facilitate travel to Son Moix. According to the City Council, in the hours leading up to the concert, service on line 8 – which connects the Sindicat area with the stadium – will be increased. These additional services will be added to the line’s usual frequency, which during this time runs approximately every eight to nine minutes.
Additionally, once the show ends, buses 8 and 33 will be available for attendees, with buses parked next to the main entrance of the venue on Camí dels Reis. Bus 8 will follow its regular route to the city center and the Sindicat interchange, while the additional special service of line 33 will offer connections to neighborhoods such as Camp Redó, s’Escorxador, and Son Fuster via the General Riera corridor, with a stop at Plaza d’Espanya to facilitate connections with the rest of the network.
All indications are that Son Moix will record one of the highest attendance figures of the season to welcome an artist who has sold more than 25 million records and whose repertoire is part of the recent history of Spanish-language music. Palma will be one of the highlights of a tour that brings Alejandro Sanz back to the big stages and confirms the enduring appeal of a career that continues to generate the same excitement as in its heyday.
