There are bands that stand the test of time, and others that manage to make it part of their legend. Orquesta Mondragón falls into this second category. Half a century after its formation, the band led by Javier Gurruchaga continues to fill venues with a show that blends rock, humor, theater, and an unmistakable stage presence. And this summer, they will make a single stop in Mallorca.

On July 24, the Sa Coma festival will host the only concert that Orquesta Mondragón will offer on the island as part of the tour celebrating its 50th anniversary, a journey through five decades of songs, personalities, and a style that has made the band one of the most distinctive groups in the Spanish music scene.

The performance, which is free, is part of the program organized by the Sant Llorenç des Cardassar City Council to commemorate the patron saint festivities of Sa Coma, which will take place from July 17 to 26 and will include concerts, cultural activities, sports, and family events suitable for all ages.

Avalanx and DJ Víctor Lozano complete the lineup.

The concert will take place on Palm Avenue and will begin at 11:00 PM. After the performance by Orquesta Mondragón, the evening will continue with live performances by Avalanx and a set by DJ Víctor Lozano, closing one of the festival program’s highlights.

The 50th anniversary tour is not just an exercise in nostalgia. The show revives great anthems like ‘Viaje con nosotros,‘ ‘Corazón de neón, and ‘Caperucita feroz, but it also celebrates the irreverent spirit that turned La Mondragón into a cultural phenomenon starting in the late 1970s. Directed by Javier Gurruchaga, the band continues to embrace a format that combines a concert, cabaret, and musical theater, maintaining a personality that few groups have managed to preserve over five decades.

The stop in Sa Coma thus takes on special importance as part of a tour that will visit some of the country’s leading theaters, concert halls, and festivals throughout 2026. For the Mallorcan audience, it will also be a unique opportunity: the concert will be the only performance by this legendary band scheduled on the island during this commemorative tour.
