Port Tarraco, the marina in Tarragona, welcomed one of the most acclaimed yachts on the international sailing scene this week. It is the Kensho, a 75.2-meter superyacht (247 feet) built by the Italian shipyard Admiral Yachts, which docked at the Moll de Lleida after sailing from Ibiza—a development that cements Port Tarraco’s status as one of the favorite destinations for superyachts cruising the Mediterranean in the summer.
Winner of the 2023 Best Motor Yacht of the Year award at the World Superyacht Awards, the Kensho began in 2016 as a simple pencil sketch by its first owner and was brought to life in 2022 by Admiral Yachts. The exterior design is the work of Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture, while the Zen-inspired interior bears the signature of the Parisian studio Jouin Manku.
Its name, of Japanese origin, refers to a concept linked to Zen Buddhism that expresses the idea of being in harmony with nature—a spirit that permeates the boat’s entire design.
Luxurious interior and accommodations for 16 guests
The Kensho can accommodate 16 guests in 8 cabins, with a crew of up to 20 people on board. Among its features are a 5.5-meter pool with a glass bottom and direct access from the guest area to the swim platform, a panoramic lounge on the upper deck with 180-degree views that can be converted into a movie theater, an elevator connecting all decks, a gym with ocean views, and interior ceilings 2.7 meters high—a rarity on this type of vessel.
Hybrid Propulsion and International Recognition
The Kensho features a diesel-electric propulsion system that has earned it Eco certification. At the same event where it was named the overall winner and Best Motor Yacht of the Year at the World Superyacht Awards, it also received the award for Best Interior in the over 1,500 GT category, cementing its status as one of the most award-winning vessels in the industry.
A media mogul
Kensho is owned by Udo Müller, a German businessman and CEO of Ströer Media, a Cologne-based media group specializing in outdoor and digital advertising.
The superyacht is currently for sale through the brokerage firm Christie Yachts, which has set its asking price at 124,500,000 euros.
