Argentinian painter based in Ibiza, Grillo Demo, and Ibizan jewelry designer Elisa Pomar have launched a collaboration between jewelry and contemporary art, with unique pieces, which they have named Gessamí (jasmine in Catalan). The collection of small, traditional jewelry was presented at the designer’s store, Argenteria, on Ibiza’s Vara de Rey Square. The event brought together more than a hundred friends, fashion designers, models, businesspeople, clients, and artists.
Their creative dialogue brings together two worlds with distinctive artistic languages linked to Ibiza, which share a common vision and approach to creation, as well as an appreciation for the heritage of traditional Ibizan jewelry and contemporary art. From this sensibility emerges Gessamí, which serves as a common thread between art, craftsmanship, tradition, and contemporary expression.
Internationally renowned artist Grillo Demo has contributed his paintings and collages to the store, including a large mural, and to this first jewelry collection, which will be followed by more new ideas and creations. This marks the beginning of a new phase of exploring the archive, traditional jewelry, and the fascinating artistic universe in which jasmine serves as both a recurring motif and the central theme of internationally acclaimed work.
The jasmine is the most recognizable symbol of Grillo’s creative vision, and this coincides with the admiration that Elisa Pomar also feels for this iconic flower. Thus, both follow the same creative path, based on the reinterpretation of this element.
Although they come from different worlds, Elisa and Grillo have spent years developing a surprisingly similar artistic language. Both draw inspiration from Ibiza’s cultural heritage to project it into the present, considering tradition as a starting point from which to continue creating.
It was upon discovering Grillo’s personal world that Elisa recognized this connection: a space where paintings, objects collected over the years, popular iconography, antiques, and memories coexist with the utmost naturalness, creating an imaginary world as personal as it is deeply rooted in the island.
“Grillo has created a highly distinctive creative universe based on the symbols, colors, and memory of Ibiza. We share the conviction that heritage only remains alive when it continues to evolve. Gessamí is born precisely from this shared understanding of creativity,” explains Pomar.
Demo’s artistic finery first appeared in Elisa’s world, not as a simple ornament, but as the expression of a shared sensibility. A meeting point between art and craftsmanship, where tradition and modernity coexisted with the utmost naturalness.
