The Real Club Náutico de Barcelona concluded the first round of the 53rd OOA Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy with an extremely close finish in the J70 class. The HSN Sailing Team, skippered by Javier Padrón, secured the victory after three days marked by consistency and fierce competition in a fleet where every maneuver proved decisive.
The J70 class took center stage in a thrilling conclusion to the first phase of competition at the 53rd Conde de Godó OOA Sailing Trophy, held this weekend in Barcelona and organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona.
The final day of racing took place under much more stable weather conditions than on Saturday, with an easterly wind that ranged from 10 to 14 knots during the first races, later dropping to 7 to 8 knots in the final race. The Race Committee managed to complete three of the four scheduled races on a course of approximately 0.9 nautical miles.
From the very first race of the day, it was clear just how evenly matched the top title contenders were. The German team ‘Diva,’ led by Kai-Uwe Hollweg, won the opening race, closely followed by the HSN Sailing Team and Luis Martín Cabiedes’ ‘Noticia,’ in a finish decided by just a few tenths of a second.
Maximum competitiveness in the J70 fleet
The winner of the second race was the ‘Hang Ten,’ skippered by Món Cañellas, following a fierce battle with the HSN Sailing Team, while the German boat Diva once again finished among the top contenders.
The final race of the championship kept the tension high right up to the finish. The HSN Sailing Team secured a decisive victory ahead of the ‘Noticia’ and the ‘Hang Ten,’ thereby clinching the overall title after nine races held over the three days of competition.
The final overall standings saw the HSN Sailing Team finish in first place, followed by the ‘Noticia’ and the German ‘Diva,’ rounding out a podium of high technical and competitive caliber.
The Godó Trophy also brings the Barcelona Spring Series to a close
In addition to the OOA Conde de Godó Trophy, the competition marked the conclusion of the J70 Barcelona Spring Series, a circuit organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona during the winter and spring seasons.
In this overall standings, the overall winner was Luis Martín Cabiedes’s ‘Noticia’, followed by the HSN Sailing Team and Món Cañellas’s ‘Hang Ten’.
The official awards ceremony will take place at the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, bringing the first stage of the event to a close and once again cementing the Conde de Godó Trophy’s status as one of the premier sailing events in the Mediterranean.

The offshore race takes over
Following the conclusion of the J70 competition, the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona is now turning its attention to the second leg of the championship, which kicks off this Friday with the BCN Race Musto Offshore Godó OOA. The offshore race will bring together part of the Mediterranean offshore fleet for a medium-distance course starting and finishing in Barcelona, ahead of the championship’s final stage, scheduled for May 28–31 with the participation of the traditional ORC classes.
