The Real Club Náutico de Barcelona has unveiled the 53rd OOA Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy, which will take place from May 15 to 31 with an innovative format featuring three competitive blocks. The regatta is strengthening its international profile, has brought on board Oxford Oil Additives as its main sponsor, and is advancing its sustainability efforts with environmental certification.
A new format to boost competition
The Real Club Náutico de Barcelona (RCNB) has announced the details of the 53rd edition of the OOA Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy, one of the most important events on the Mediterranean cruising calendar. The main change for 2026 is the restructuring of the event across three consecutive weekends, a format designed to maximize participation and tailor the program to the specific characteristics of each class.
RCNB President Jordi Puig emphasized that this change “will improve the quality of competition, streamline logistics, and provide a more competitive environment for each fleet.”
The program for this year’s regatta is divided into three phases:
– May 15–17: J70 class competition, featuring approximately 20 boats from 10 countries and 12 scheduled races.
– May 22–24: BCN Race Musto Offshore Godó OOA, featuring races ranging from 66 to 180 miles for ORC cruisers with full crews, as well as two- and three-person crews.
– May 28–31: Final races for the ORC, ORC Double-Handed, and ORC Open classes, featuring windward-leeward and coastal courses.
According to race director Pablo Garriga, total participation could exceed 100 boats, with nearly 800 sailors from 14 countries, further cementing the event’s international profile.
International expansion with a new sponsor
The addition of Oxford Oil Additives (OOA) as the title sponsor represents a strategic boost for the trophy’s visibility. The club highlights the shared values of efficiency and sustainability.
The company’s CEO, Juan de Ros, expressed the company’s commitment to the event and its ties to the maritime sector: “We are proud to be part of this historic regatta.”

A firm commitment to sustainability
In addition, the 2026 Conde de Godó Trophy will hold Bgreenly’s BGSS sustainability certification, which was awarded following an audit of the event and the club conducted in collaboration with the Barcelona Capital Nàutica Foundation.
This recognition is part of a strategic initiative aimed at developing a model for sustainable regattas that can be applied internationally, thereby reinforcing the RCNB’s commitment to the environment.
Established in 1974 and supported by the Godó family since its inception, the Conde de Godó Trophy is Spain’s longest-running cruiser regatta, held without interruption.
The 2026 edition reaffirms its role as a benchmark in national sailing, combining tradition, organizational innovation, and international reach.
