At an upcoming meeting of the Executive Committee, the Palma City Council will approve the rules for the 2026 City of Palma Awards, which include a total of 12 competition categories and a total prize pool of 132,000 euros. The awards will be presented, as is tradition, on January 20th, coinciding with the feast day of Saint Sebastian, the patron saint of Palma.
The awards, as established by the City Council, cover the broadest possible range of cultural and artistic expressions, with the aim of stimulating and promoting the creation and dissemination of new initiatives in a wide variety of creative fields, ranging from literature to journalism, gastronomy, music, and the visual arts, among many others.
The budget allocation for this year’s awards is 132,000 euros, the same amount that was reserved for this purpose in the previous edition of the awards.
The categories included in the Ciutat de Palma Awards 2026 are, therefore, the Llorenç Villalonga Prize for a novel in Catalan, the Camilo José Cela Prize for a novel in Spanish, the Joan Alcover Prize for poetry in Catalan, the Rubén Darío Prize for Poetry in Spanish, the Antoni Gelabert Prize for Visual Arts, the Ciutat de Palma Comic Prize, the Bonet de Sant Pere Music Prize, the Margaluz Prize for Performing Arts, the Maria Forteza Prize for Audiovisual Arts (which includes two categories: documentary and short film), the Montserrat Casas Award for Research, the Miquel dels Sants Oliver Award for Journalism, and the Caty Juan de Corral Award for Gastronomy.
