The Antònia Font concert, scheduled for the last day of the Mobofest Festival, will not take place as planned following the death of Joan Roca on Wednesday, although the band members are paying tribute to him. According to a statement issued by Mobofest, the performance will become “an expression of affection, warmth and admiration” for Roca.

The Mobofest music movement has lamented the death of Roca, “a person and musician unique in the Mallorcan music scene.” “He has been, is, and will continue to be essential to understanding the musical history of our culture,” they added. Finally, Mobofest sent its support and condolences to his family, his friends, and all those who loved him.

Meanwhile, the Mallorcan band has paid tribute to Roca, whom they described as “a friend, a generous companion, and a brother.” On their Instagram profile, the band announced Roca’s death and admitted that “it’s difficult to find the words to explain” their feelings in the wake of this loss. “He was with us for 25 years, through nine albums and hundreds of concerts. He leaves behind an irreparable and irreplaceable void.”

As they have emphasized, they shared “the best moments” of their lives with him and, they stress, “that is something that never fades.” “We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of affection and condolence messages. Joan, thank you for all these years. ‘We will miss you and we love you, now and forever,’ they concluded in a post accompanied by a photo of the band members toasting.
