Business ties between the Balearic Islands and the Dominican Republic have taken a step forward. The Confederation of Business Associations of the Balearic Islands (CAEB) has welcomed the Casa Balear Punta Cana Business Association as a partner organization, an alliance aimed at consolidating a cooperation network between the thousands of Balearic entrepreneurs established in the Caribbean country and the business community of the Balearic Islands.
The agreement, signed by the president of the CAEB, Carmen Planas, and the vice president of the Dominican association, Alejandro Albertí Bosch, represents the natural evolution of a relationship that began to strengthen after the First Business Summit of the Balearic Islands and the Dominican Republic, organized by the Balearic business organization last March in Santo Domingo.
More than an institutional agreement, both organizations present it as a tool to facilitate contacts, promote investment, and generate new business opportunities between two economies that have historically maintained close ties, especially in sectors such as tourism, construction, services, and hotel investment.
Casa Balear Punta Cana has worked for years to strengthen the economic, social, and cultural ties between the Balearic Islands and the Dominican Republic, offering support to entrepreneurs and professionals with interests in both regions. Its affiliation with the CAEB will allow for a more stable collaboration in areas such as business internationalization, knowledge exchange, institutional cooperation, and the promotion of joint projects. “This agreement will allow us to establish a permanent communication channel to identify business opportunities and facilitate contact between Balearic and Dominican companies interested in developing joint projects,” says Carmen Planas.
For his part, Alejandro Albertí emphasizes that membership in the CAEB will facilitate the dissemination of information on investment opportunities, financing, trade missions, business conferences, and other initiatives of interest to companies operating in both markets.
The summit that marked the beginning of a new era
The signing of the agreement stems from the results obtained during the first Business Summit of the Balearic Islands and the Dominican Republic, an initiative that brought together around fifty business leaders from the Balearic Islands and the Dominican Republic in March with the aim of identifying opportunities for collaboration and strengthening the relationship between the two business ecosystems.
During the event, networking sessions and working groups focused on tourism, digital transformation, and talent management were held, where companies from both countries shared experiences and explored possible strategic alliances.

The agenda also included a high-level institutional meeting attended by, among others, the President of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Marga Prohens; the Minister of Education of the Dominican Republic, Rafael Santos; the President of the Confederation of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises of the Dominican Republic (COPARDOM), Laura Peña; and representatives of the Spanish Embassy.
Among the main challenges analyzed, the following stood out: the lack of qualified professionals, talent retention, absenteeism, and improving productivity – issues on which the CAEB has been developing various programs together with its business organizations and, in some cases, in collaboration with the Government of the Balearic Islands.
A business relationship based on continuity
The inclusion of Casa Balear Punta Cana in the organization of entrepreneurs from the Balearic Islands aims to continue the work that began in March. Both organizations are already studying the organization of new editions of the Business Summit Balearic Islands–Dominican Republic and other initiatives aimed at strengthening economic relations between both territories.
The common goal is to turn this collaboration into a stable platform to support companies in their internationalization processes, facilitate bilateral investment, and capitalize on the opportunities offered by two markets that have been linked for decades by a strong Balearic business presence.
