Air Europa closed 2025 with a net profit of over 111 million euros, a 28 percent increase compared to the previous year, and expects to repeat this growth in 2026 despite the impact of fuel costs. The company is currently developing a new roadmap through 2028, focused on operational efficiency, expansion, and diversification of its activities.
During a press conference, CEO Richard Clark stated that the airline is currently focusing on consolidating its business, with the goal of improving operations and increasing efficiency, while exploring new markets.
Revenues exceeded €3.1 billion in 2025, representing a year-over-year increase of 7.3 percent. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) reached €235.8 million, a 14.5 percent increase, driven by demand and the addition of new aircraft for both short- and long-haul routes, including the Boeing 737 Max.
In total, the airline carried 12.5 million passengers, 2.6 percent more than in 2024, with an average load factor of 84.8 percent, an increase of 1.1 percentage points. The workforce stood at 4,500 employees, 3.5 percent more than the previous year.
Looking ahead to 2026, the company expects to maintain positive growth, supported by demand and its management strategy, despite volatility in the fuel market, for which it has hedged between 85% and 90%.
Throughout the year, Air Europa has launched eight new routes – two of which are seasonal – with flights from Madrid to destinations such as Seville, Oviedo, Geneva, and Johannesburg, in addition to increasing flight frequency on other routes. In the case of Venezuela, the company operates four weekly flights between Valencia and Madrid and plans to increase them to five in the near future.
Chief Financial Officer Isabel Vives indicated that revenue in 2026 could reach 3.3 billion euros, which would represent an increase over the previous fiscal year.
The current fleet consists of 29 Boeing 787s and 31 Boeing 737s. The company plans to introduce the first Airbus A350-900s starting in 2028, with the goal of modernizing the fleet and increasing capacity. In the long term, Air Europa plans to have between 70 and 80 aircraft by 2035, depending on market developments.
New strategic plan and maintenance branding
As part of its strategic plan, known as Plan + Air 28, the company has announced the creation of Air Europa Technics, a new brand that will bring together its aircraft maintenance activities. This initiative is a response to supply chain pressures and aims to strengthen the airline’s technical capabilities.
The project includes adapting the facilities to accommodate the arrival of the Airbus A350-900 and strengthening the training program, with the renovation of the Palma de Mallorca center and the creation of a new facility in Madrid.
The plan also includes initiatives such as Air Europa On, which aims to improve the in-flight customer experience, and Core, a program focused on efficiency and competitiveness.
The company has also created a new Strategy, Transformation, and Acquisitions division, which will drive the Strategic Reset initiative with the goal of translating the plan’s key priorities into measurable results and improving profitability.
