Marina Port d’Andratx hosted the 15th Blue Dragonera Network (XDB) Forum, a participatory process that brings together different sectors of Andratx with the aim of promoting their active and informed participation in the care of the coast, decision-making, and management of the Sa Dragonera Marine Protected Area. This latest forum was organized in collaboration with the Natural Environment Planning Service of the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment, according to Save the Med.
During the forum, a participatory workshop was held to allow local stakeholders to make contributions that would be taken into account in the drafting of the future Management Plan for the SCI (Site of Community Importance) Protected Area of Sa Dragonera. Save the Med’s project coordinator, Yaiza Santana, emphasized that “all of this represents another step toward achieving the various objectives for which the Network was established.”
The contributions from the various sectors and participants have focused on four main topics: mooring management, water sports, diving activities, and other relevant areas such as water quality, fishing activities, and the scientific studies needed in the area.

The Blue Dragon Network was established in March 2022 as an independent organization, separate from the Sa Dragonera project managed by the Save the Med Foundation, with the goal of giving a voice to people with ties to Sa Dragonera and Sant Elm and influencing the conservation of the surroundings of the marine protected area.
Over these 15 editions, more than 165 people have participated, representing most of the sectors linked to the coast of Sa Dragonera and Sant Elm.
Among the platform’s most significant achievements, its “fundamental role” in regulating ship speeds at Sa Dragonera – a measure formally adopted by the regional government in March 2025 – has been particularly noteworthy.
“For those of us who have organized the forum over these 15 editions, it is very gratifying to see the growing importance being given to initiatives like the Blue Dragon Network, which bring together a large number of voices from sectors linked to a specific area,” said Olivia Mas, project technician at Save the Med.
