The ports of the Balearic Islands received 1.96 million cruise passengers between January and September, which represents a 7.2 percent drop compared to the same period last year.

According to figures published Monday by Puertos del Estado, these passengers traveled on 640 ships, a 2.4 percent drop. In September alone, 327,484 cruise passengers arrived in the archipelago aboard 121 cruise ships.

Including scheduled services and cruise ships, total passenger traffic was 7.9 million, 3.9 percent lower than in 2025.

Statewide, passenger traffic reached just under 33 million movements through September, a drop of 1.1 percent compared to the same period last year.

The decrease is mainly due to a 2.5 percent drop in the number of passengers traveling on scheduled services, which totaled just 22.6 million trips, partially offset by a 2 percent increase in cruise passengers, who numbered 10.5 million.

CARGO TRAFFIC

Meanwhile, during the same period, the ports of the Balearic Islands recorded 16.5 million tons of cargo, 1.4 percent less than last year.

General cargo decreased by 0.6 percent during the first nine months of the year, with 11.9 million tons handled. Containerized cargo, on the other hand, increased by 4.8 percent in the archipelago, to 240,602 tons.

Liquid bulk cargo decreased by 5.9 percent to 1.2 million tons, while solid bulk cargo fell by 8.5 percent to 230,642 tons.

In all State general-interest ports, merchandise traffic totaled 420 million tons, an increase of 1.2 percent.
