The Council of Mallorca is keeping the third edition of ‘Cultura en vena,’ La Misericòrdia’s summer cultural program, running until September 17. After a July that saw a great response from the public, the program continues with concerts, family activities, and storytelling sessions that, for another summer, will transform the La Misericòrdia Cultural Center into a meeting place open to everyone.
The Vice President of the Council of Mallorca and Councillor for Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, has given a very positive assessment of how the first weeks of the program have gone and has emphasized that “the public’s response confirms that La Misericòrdia has established itself as a vibrant, open, and accessible cultural space, offering high-quality events for all audiences during the summer months.”
Roca pointed out that this year’s edition of ‘Cultura en vena’ is already the third, ‘a project that grows and consolidates year after year thanks to the warm welcome it receives from both Mallorquins and visitors, and which reflects the commitment of the Council of Mallorca to bring culture to the public’. He also highlighted that all activities are free and take place outdoors, which helps transform the Misericòrdia into a vibrant space in the center of Palma during the summer months.
Since late June, hundreds of people have participated in the program’s various events, which combine music, performing arts, literature, and family activities. This year’s big new feature, the ‘Principal a la Fresca’ series, was introduced to an extraordinary welcome. The four performances scheduled between June 13 and July 5 — Daughters of Mercy by Iguana Theatre; the Zarzuela Recital: Great Zarzuela Duets; The Day David Bowie Died by Ferro Productions; and Petites tragèdies—all sold out and filled the courtyard of Les Dones de la Misericòrdia, confirming the success of this new initiative launched in collaboration with the Principal Theatre of Palma.
The music series has also been very well received by the public, with concerts by Bruno Sotos, Cabot, and Pablo Alegría headlining the first musical nights of the summer. The program will continue throughout August and into early September with four more performances: Trio Aina Mateu on August 1; Maria Antònia Roses on August 8; Toc de Crida on August 22; and Guitarró Esqueixat on September 5.
The family programming has once again proven to be one of the main attractions of ‘Cultura en vena,’ with a large turnout for activities like The Mystery of Mercy and Na Coca’s Dragon, the sensory spaces Sun Cub and Cubs of the Sea, the creative workshops, the Ways of Loving storytelling session, and the All the Rhythm musical bingo.
In the coming weeks, at 7:00 PM, the family program will continue with the pendant-making workshop (August 7), the sensory activity ‘Sea Cubs – Let’s Explore with Blue Sky’ (August 14), and the storytelling session ‘The Planet of Colors!’ (August 21), the custom pin creation workshop (August 28), and the children’s show A Journey Through Music (September 4).
The Biblio-Garden has also recorded a large turnout for sessions such as The Colors of the Seasons, Captain Arlo and the Dream Ship, *Rhymes About Animals and Creatures, and The Moon Dragon.
The series will include four more sessions, all at 6:30 PM: *The Box of Sparks* (August 6), *The White Bubble* (August 20), *The Discovery of the Bougainvillea* (September 3) and *Floquet and Zoe in Search of Winter* (September 17), which will conclude this third edition of ‘Cultura en vena’.
