The General Assembly of the Mallorca Economic Circle, held on Monday, elected Bernat Bonnin as the new president for the next two years and appointed the members of the new board of directors. Bonnin, founder and CEO of the technology company Robot, succeeds Pep Vicens, who has presided over the organization for the past eight years. The organization now has more than 200 members, and its main objective is to improve the well-being and promote the progress of Mallorcan society.
According to a press release, Vicens’s presidency has been characterized by the impact of the global Covid-19 pandemic and its recovery, as well as by other issues such as the Special Regime for the Balearic Islands. Vicens highlighted the 50 percent increase in the number of members and thanked the members “for the miracle that has kept the Circle running” during his 3,000 days in office.
For his part, Bonnin said he was beginning his term “with enthusiasm, humility, and a sense of responsibility,” focusing not only on analyzing the present but also on helping to shape the future, complementing it with a long-term vision. His priorities include science and technology, culture, the blue economy, supporting the Young Circle, and ultimately leaving behind “a more prosperous Mallorca.”
The Circle’s General Assembly – its highest governing body – has appointed the 14 members who now make up the new executive committee: Jaume Simonet, Isabel Del Pino, Yoann Blanc, Lluís Quetglas, José Juan Novas, Francisco de Asís Maura, Víctor Sánchez, Inés Rotger, Marga Gual, Isabel Pellicer, Javier Blas, Maria Obrador and Antoni Horrach.

In fact, the President of the Regional Government, Marga Prohens, congratulated Bonnin on Tuesday and wished him every success in his new role at the head of “an organization that, through dialogue and reflection, contributes to the transformation of the Balearic Islands.”
The head of the regional government of the Balearic Islands also expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the former president for his “eight years of commitment, dedication, and service,“ as well as for having established the Economic Circle as a forum for discussion, debate, and proposals to address the challenges facing the Balearic Islands.
“We, in the regional government, will continue working through dialogue and collaboration to move forward and build a better future for the Balearic Islands,” Prohens concluded.
