Successful season in Menorca: three out of four tourism companies maintain or improve sales for 2025

All economic indicators give reason for optimism ahead of the final exams in July and August.

Menorca is approaching the halfway point of the tourist season with a good forecast, although it is not getting carried away by enthusiasm just yet. June’s figures give reason for optimism: three out of four businesses in the island’s main tourist sectors have managed to maintain or improve their revenue compared to the same month last year. However, PIME Menorca prefers to contain its enthusiasm, pointing out that the real test will come in July and August, the months that account for the majority of tourist activity. However, the figure speaks for itself, considering that Menorca is the Balearic island least likely to record significant year-over-year increases in tourism.

The monthly survey by the business association shows that 72.45 percent of the companies surveyed closed June with revenue equal to or greater than that of 2025, while 27.55 percent recorded a decrease. This is a starting point that points to a “generally favorable” trend, although it is not yet enough to predict how the season will end.

Among the month’s highlights is agritourism, which continues to consolidate as one of the strongest options within Menorca’s tourism offering. Sixty percent of establishments experienced an increase in revenue compared to the previous year, while the remaining forty percent managed to maintain their figures, with no business reporting a decrease. This outlook confirms that demand for this type of accommodation remains stable.

Car rentals are also picking up speed. More than half of the companies in the sector (54.55 percent) saw their revenues increase in June, compared to 27.27 percent that held steady and 18.18 percent that experienced a decline. PIME interprets these figures as a reflection of visitors’ growing interest in exploring the island and discovering new places, although it notes that the average car rental duration continues to decrease.

Retail is not far behind.

The retail sector is not far behind either. Almost one in two companies surveyed (46.9 percent) experienced an increase in sales compared to June of last year, while 32.74 percent recorded similar figures and only 20.35 percent recorded a decrease. According to the business association, part of this upturn coincides with the shopping voucher plan launched by the Balearic Government in mid-June, an initiative that, they claim, not only encouraged spending among residents, but also sparked the interest of numerous tourists and visitors, who applied for the vouchers once they realized they could benefit from them.

Tourist accommodation also holds steady. 38.89 percent of companies experienced an increase in revenue, while another 38.89 percent managed to match the results of the previous year. Only 22.22 percent recorded a decrease. In this sector, business owners agree that last-minute bookings remain crucial to closing a strong month.

The performance of the nautical sector has been more balanced. Almost half (45.45%) maintained their revenues, while 27.27% managed to increase them and the same percentage experienced a decrease. The stable weather conditions in June helped maintain demand at a level very similar to that of the previous year.

Not all sectors, however, are riding the same wave of success. Cafés, bars, and restaurants continue to have more difficulty improving their results. 44.64% of companies recorded revenue lower than a year ago, compared to 35.71% that managed to maintain it and 19.64% that managed to grow.

Once again, the most difficult sector is active tourism. More than six out of ten companies (61.54 percent) recorded a drop in revenue compared to June 2025, while only 15.38 percent managed to increase it and 23.08 percent maintained similar figures. This trend once again places this segment as the one with the worst results in the survey conducted by PIME Menorca.
