The 2022 Blanc Giró Ros from Galmés i Ferrer (PGI Vi de la Terra de Mallorca) has won first prize at the Vinari Awards for wines from the Balearic Islands, and also won in the aged whites category, following a blind tasting by a jury of industry professionals.
The 14th edition of the Vinari Awards has introduced a new category, “Guest Region Wines,” which this year is dedicated to the Balearic Islands: 28 wineries have participated in the competition with 101 wines.
In the Young Whites category, the first prize (‘Grand Gold’) went to ‘Nounat’ 2025, from the Binigrau winery (PGI Vi de la Terra de Mallorca), and in the rosé category, to ‘Binitord Rosat’ 2025, from Binitord (PGI Vi de la Terra de Menorca).
In the young red wines category, the winner was the ‘Alba Negra Menorca’ 2025, from Torralba (PGI Vi de la Terra de Menorca); in the aged red wines category, ‘Son Antem S’Era’ 2024, from Son Antem (PGI Vi de la Terra de Mallorca); in the vintage red wines category, ‘Gran Vinya Son Caules’ 2017, from Miquel Gelabert (DO Pla i Llevant).
The highlight among sparkling wines was ‘Llampant’ 2023, from Sebastià Pastor (DO Binissalem), and in the sweet, aged, or dessert category, ‘Pansit de Formentera’, from Cap de Barbaria (PGI Vi de la Terra Formentera).

The participation of the Balearic Islands in this 14th edition of the Vinari Awards is part of the promotional strategy promoted by the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Environment, with the objective of giving greater prominence to the archipelago’s wines and showcasing the diversity of its protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications.
In this regard, the Director General of Agri-Food Quality and Local Products, Joan Llabrés, highlighted that the participation of the Balearic Islands as a guest region had been an “excellent opportunity” to showcase the quality of Balearic wines and the work done by the wineries on the four islands.
“This recognition helps strengthen the reputation of Balearic wines and open new promotional opportunities at a leading event in the wine sector,” he emphasized.
In total, the wines of the Balearic Islands have won 32 awards in the various categories of the competition, which range from whites and rosés to reds, sparkling wines, and sweet wines, highlighting “the quality and diversity of the archipelago’s wine production.”
The participation of these wineries has been supported by the Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia through the General Directorate of Agri-Food Quality and Local Products, and the awards will be presented in October at the Vinari Awards Gala in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona).
