2025 was, once again, a record year for tourism in Ibiza and Formentera. The economic impact of tourism reached 4.548 billion euros, the highest level ever recorded in the Pitiusas Islands, according to data from the Balearic Institute of Statistics (IBESTAT).

Growth was driven more by value than by volume. Over the course of the year, 3.7 million tourists arrived, 1.2% more than in 2024, a moderate increase that contrasts with the trend in spending. Each visitor spent an average of 1,220 euros during their stay, a 3.7% increase, while daily spending rose to 222.8 euros, a 13% increase. This is the highest level in the Balearic Islands and consolidates the islands’ position in the most attractive tourism segment—that with the highest spending power.

This growth occurred despite a 7.1% decline in overnight stays and a drop in the average length of stay to 5.47 days. Fewer nights, but higher spending per day: this balance explains the new all-time high in revenue.

By type of accommodation, hotels generated 3.042 billion euros. This was supplemented by 908 million euros generated by apartments and villas, while the unregulated tourism sector contributed 597 million euros. Diversification of the tourism offering continues to play a significant role, although the hotel segment still accounts for the lion’s share of the business.

The international market once again played a decisive role. Of the 3.7 million visitors, 2.8 million came from abroad, with the United Kingdom being the leading source market. Italy also stood out for its growth, consolidating its position as one of the most dynamic European markets for the islands.

Overall, the data reflect a gradual transformation of the tourism model in Ibiza and Formentera. Shorter stays are accompanied by a steady increase in spending, reflecting a trend that prioritizes profitability over volume. This pattern positions the Pitiusas as the most economically profitable destination in the Balearic Islands and strengthens their standing on the national tourism map.
