Ports of the Balearic Islands (PortsIB) has awarded contracts for the comprehensive maintenance of mooring systems and underwater structures in the ports under its direct management in southeast and northeast Mallorca. The Regional Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle explained in a statement on Wednesday that two lots have been awarded for a total of 985,666 euros, with an initial duration of two years.

The lot covering the southeast area was awarded for €539,055 and includes the ports of Portocristo, Portocolom, Portopetro, Cala Figuera, and La Colònia de Sant Jordi, as well as the port facilities of S’Estanyol and the Es Coto ramp.

As for the northeast area, the contract is worth €446,611 and covers the ports of Pollença, Cala Rajada, and Cala Bona, as well as the facilities of Es Barcarès, S’Oberta, and Formentor, and the berths managed directly by the Colònia de Sant Pere.

The service combines preventive and scheduled maintenance—based on inspections at various ports—with corrective measures to replace any necessary components and to ensure that the facilities continue to operate properly.

The planned tasks include the inspection and repair of mooring systems, the replacement or installation of components such as rings, shackles, ladders, and guards, as well as work on structures requiring underwater or marine equipment.

The contract also covers additional work, such as the recovery of objects from the seabed, the removal of items that may affect draft, the installation of buoys, and the refloating or salvage of vessels. It also includes minor repairs and modifications to port facilities when necessary to bring them into compliance with regulations or to improve their operation.
