Safety, cleanliness, coordination, and infrastructure. Palma Beach believes that these four factors have shaped the development of Palma Beach during the tourist season and maintains that their management is directly linked to the quality and competitiveness of the destination. The business platform highlights the joint efforts between local authorities, public services, and businesses during the busiest months and calls for this collaboration to be maintained in future seasons.

The review of the Palma Beach season highlights the ability of Palma Beach to manage both the daily demands of a high-traffic tourist destination and exceptional circumstances. According to the organization, the results of the past few months demonstrate the importance of maintaining a stable public-private partnership that allows for coordinating resources and providing a more effective response during periods of peak demand at the destination.

“We have seen that when there is planning, coordination, and a willingness to work together, Playa de Palma delivers results,” says Mika Ferrer, CEO of Palma Beach. One of the aspects most valued by the business platform is the security operation deployed during the summer as part of the specific plan presented by the Palma City Council.

According to Palma Beach, the increased police presence and the organization of the security operation have helped improve the perception of safety among those who work in the area, residents, and visitors. “Security is one of the cornerstones of any high-quality tourist destination. This year we have seen a significant effort and we believe this is the path we must maintain and continue to reinforce in the coming seasons,” says Ferrer.

For the business community, security is not just an operational issue, but also an integral part of the tourist experience and the overall perception of the destination. The platform also highlights the work done by Emaya in the area of cleaning, especially along the waterfront and in the areas with the highest concentration of visitors. Palma Beach believes that the increase in resources and cleaning frequencies has contributed to both the smooth operation of the destination and its image during the busiest months.

“Cleaning is part of the tourist experience and also of the residents’ quality of life. We appreciate that resources and the frequency of cleaning have been increased, because taking care of public spaces directly improves the image of Playa de Palma,” says Ferrer. The business platform’s position thus identifies the maintenance of public spaces as a factor that affects residents, visitors, and businesses alike.

The eclipse as a test of coordination

The ability to coordinate between public administrations and services was also put to a particularly demanding test during the total solar eclipse on August 12. Palma Beach cites this extraordinary operation as an example of event planning capable of attracting large crowds. The operation included temporary traffic restrictions, additional emergency services, and an increase in public transportation.

For the business organization, the response to this type of situation underscores the importance of anticipating scenarios with a large number of visitors and coordinating the various resources involved. In light of this assessment, Palma Beach is now calling for the improvements in daily management to also translate into a continuous regeneration strategy for Palma Beach.

The platform calls on the authorities to “continue making progress in the regeneration of infrastructure and public spaces,” through initiatives such as the Comprehensive Action Plan promoted by Cort. The business community’s vision is that safety, cleanliness, organization, and infrastructure are not separate issues, but components of a single strategy to improve the destination.

“We have a foundation to continue building on. Safety, cleanliness, organization, and infrastructure are all part of the same goal: improving Palma Beach. This season has shown that collaboration works, and we want to continue working with the authorities to ensure this transformation keeps moving forward,” concludes Ferrer.

For Palma Beach, the season’s review therefore does not represent a destination, but a foundation from which to continue addressing the transformation of Palma Beach through coordination between the public and private sectors.
