Friday the 28th
Friday will be a special day because we will enjoy art and gastronomy in equal measure. We will begin our artistic themed itinerary at the Juan March Foundation Museum. The venue is hosting the exhibition ‘Yves Klein: A Touch of Infinity,’ which brings together a selection of more than twenty paintings and three-dimensional works, offering a glimpse into the work of one of the great names of European post-war art.
The exhibition traces some of his key series, from the famous monochromes to the ‘Anthropometries,’ in which he transformed the human body into a pictorial instrument, using the iconic Klein blue pigment pool. The exhibition also focuses on the artist’s relationship with Spain, where Klein lived on two occasions during the 1950s.
After the art, it will be time to sit down at De Tokio a Lima, a nikkei cuisine haven located amidst the peace and nature of Valldemossa. Located on the grounds of Hotel Can Alomar, the restaurant takes diners on a culinary journey through Japan, Peru, and the Mediterranean, using seasonal produce and a contemporary approach that is best expressed in its ceviches, tiraditos, Latin-inspired nigiri, and flavorful meat and fish dishes. To accompany the meal, a cocktail menu featuring pisco, sake, and mixed drinks designed to complement the cuisine.
Saturday 29
We will spend Saturday morning admiring the work of Joan Miró at his foundation in Mallorca. The complex, designed by Josep Lluís Sert, offers an immersion into his creative universe through more than 6,000 works by the artist, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, and sketches; as well as the studios where the artist worked, which offer a glimpse into his unique relationship with space and materials.
From the museum, we’ll head to the rave. Elrow will go all out with XXL Winamax at the Son Fusteret venue, a new edition in which electronic music will once again be transformed into performance art in a show that will last more than twelve hours, spread across four stages.
From 12:00 PM to 2:00 AM, the party – characterized by its fusion of performances, installations, and visual effects into a single experience – will be in full swing the entire time. The main stage, Hallucinarium XXL, will feature performances by Adam Beyer, Marco Carola, and Hot Since 82, along with Ben Sims, Adiel b2b Quest, Grace Dahl, Chlar, and De La Swing. The lineup is rounded out with industrial and urban performances at Industry City, Balearic talent at Pink Cathedral, and a final stop at The Jail.
Sunday 30
On the last Sunday of August, before heading back to work, we’re treating ourselves to Leña Mallorca. Dani García’s contemporary grill opened this summer at the Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra in Mallorca, bringing his charcoal-grilled specialties to the island, with fire, smoke, and aged meats at the core of the creative experience. From its iconic hamburger, “which gave it all meaning,” to the A5 Wagyu filet or the 45-day aged beef tenderloin.
Local island products also play a key role on the menu, combining with the chef’s distinctive style in dishes like grilled XXL shrimp with sobrasada or smoked burrata with trampó.
After the night’s events, we’ll take to the streets to experience one of the most anticipated moments of the summer with The Blaze. The French duo, made up of cousins Guillaume and Jonathan Alric, will return to Mallorca on August 30th for a DJ set headlining another event at the electronic music venue La Plaza, in Es Jardí.
