A longer summer for Punta Arabí Hippy Market

The oldest street market in the Islands expands its offer and opening hours

The historic Punta Arabí hippy market, considered the oldest and largest open-air market in the Balearic Islands, kicks off the summer season with an expanded schedule and a renewed offering that reinforces its position as one of the main icons of the Mediterranean lifestyle in Ibiza. Located in Es Canar and managed by FERGUS Style Punta Arabí, the market will be open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., offering residents and visitors a more relaxed and complete experience centered on creativity, craftsmanship, gastronomy, and local culture.

Since its creation in 1973, Punta Arabí has evolved from an alternative hub driven by the island’s hippie community to become a cultural and tourist icon that attracts thousands of visitors each season. Its enduring presence for over five decades reflects Ibiza’s ability to preserve the essential elements of its identity while adapting to new trends in experiential and sustainable tourism.

This summer’s edition is based on this philosophy, with more than 400 stalls spread along the route. Local craftsmanship, independent design, Mediterranean-inspired fashion, home goods, natural cosmetics, organic products, and creations made from recycled materials come together in an environment that celebrates craftsmanship and conscious consumption. More than just a shopping space, the market presents itself as a platform for creative expression where each item tells a story linked to the territory, sustainability, and authenticity.

One of the main attractions of Punta Arabí remains the opportunity to interact directly with local artisans, designers, and creators. This personal touch offers a unique selling point in a tourism landscape increasingly focused on authentic, personalized experiences, far from conventional consumer trends.

The market’s surroundings also help enhance this concept. Located within the FERGUS Style Punta Arabí complex—a collection of white villas surrounded by pines and open to the Mediterranean landscape—the experience combines nature, traditional architecture, and a relaxed atmosphere that invites visitors to linger. The venue’s dining options, which include restaurants, bars, and casual dining areas, complement the experience and turn a visit into a full day of leisure.

Music also takes center stage this season. The live performance program has been expanded to enhance the market’s cultural and festive atmosphere, while the addition of a food truck area offers more options for families to enjoy the space. This combination of shopping, food, and entertainment solidifies Punta Arabí’s position as one of the island’s main social and cultural hubs during the summer months.

With the institutional support of the Town Hall of Santa Eulària des Riu and the Association of Vendors of the Punta Arabí Hippy Market (AVEHMPA), the market remains true to the values that defined its origins: creative freedom, cultural diversity, and a connection with the local environment. At a time when travelers are increasingly seeking experiences connected to local identity, Punta Arabí continues to represent one of the most authentic expressions of the Ibizan spirit and an example of how tradition and modernity can successfully coexist.
