FLIR is expanding its lineup of thermal solutions for recreational and professional navigation with the new Ocean Scout Pro, a night vision monocular specifically designed to enhance situational awareness at sea. Compact, rugged, and easy to use, this device allows users to detect people, obstacles, and navigational aids even in complete darkness.
A thermal monocular designed for night navigation
The new Ocean Scout Pro is designed to provide a portable and effective thermal imaging experience in marine environments. The device features a 640 x 480-pixel VOx thermal sensor and a 19mm fixed lens with a wide 32° field of view, one of its key selling points for facilitating quick sweeps over the water.
According to the company, the monocular can detect human heat signatures at distances of up to 500 meters, a capability that is particularly useful in man-overboard situations, nighttime operations, or navigation in low-visibility conditions. In addition, the image enhancement technology developed by FLIR optimizes the identification of people and aids navigation in low-light conditions.

Simple ergonomics for immediate use
One of the standout features of the Ocean Scout Pro is its clearly operational design. FLIR has opted for a simplified interface and ergonomic controls that allow the monocular to be used with one hand, without complex menus that might distract the user while navigating.
The device features a digital zoom of up to 8x and several thermal display modes, including White Hot, Black Hot, and Sepia—settings designed to adapt to different maritime scenarios and environmental conditions.
Sturdy construction and long battery life
Designed to withstand the demanding conditions of the marine environment, the Ocean Scout Pro is IP67-certified for water and dust resistance and can withstand drops of up to two meters. Weighing approximately 498 grams and featuring compact dimensions, it is designed to combine portability and durability on deck.
The device offers up to six hours of battery life thanks to its built-in lithium-ion battery, and it can recharge to 80% capacity in about two hours.

Real-time streaming and mobile connectivity
Another standout feature of the Ocean Scout Pro is its ability to stream live video via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The monocular can connect to the FLIR Scout Pro mobile app for iOS devices, allowing users to view real-time images and transfer photos or video clips recorded while on the water.
With this new offering, FLIR Marine is strengthening its position in the portable thermal imaging segment for the marine industry, a market where safety and early detection have become increasingly important factors for both recreational and professional boaters.
