The British firm ThirtyC has proposed a conceptual gigayacht inspired by the iconic Imperial destroyers from Star Wars. It is a radical design exercise that combines futuristic aesthetics, advanced naval architecture, and a disruptive vision of luxury at sea.
The project, informally dubbed “Star Destroyer,” brings the angular, aggressive lines of the imperial starships from Star Wars to the maritime world. Far from being a mere stylistic exercise, the design explores new ways to integrate volume, livability, and aerodynamics into a large hull.
The inverted triangular silhouette and faceted surfaces break with the tradition of conventional superyachts, embracing an aesthetic that prioritizes visual identity without compromising on technical standards.
An extreme concept inspired by science fiction
One of the most notable features of the concept is the reinterpretation of the interior architecture. The design features: stepped decks integrated into the exterior geometry; large glass surfaces concealed behind angular planes; leisure areas distributed across levels descending toward the stern; and helipads and technical areas integrated into the superstructure
This organization aims to maximize privacy and the homeowner’s experience, while optimizing the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Technology and Propulsion: A Look to the Future
Although it is still a concept, ThirtyC proposes the use of hybrid or fully electric propulsion systems, in line with the energy transition in the marine sector.
The design also calls for the incorporation of advanced materials and energy-efficient solutions, with the aim of reducing hydrodynamic drag and improving the ship’s overall performance.
The Rise of Conceptual Design in Luxury Yachting
This project is part of a growing trend within the industry: the use of radical concepts as a testing ground for innovation. Design firms and shipyards are increasingly exploring ideas inspired by the automotive industry, aviation, or science fiction to anticipate the future of yachting.
In this context, ThirtyC’s “Star Destroyer” aims not only to make a visual impact, but also to spark a discussion about new types of large-scale vessels.
Between fantasy and feasibility
Although its actual construction poses considerable technical challenges, the project demonstrates the extent to which contemporary naval design can draw inspiration from global cultural phenomena such as Star Wars.
Beyond its immediate feasibility, this conceptual gigayacht redefines the creative boundaries of the industry and points to a future where aesthetic identity will be just as important as engineering.
