The Superyacht Cup Palma breaks records with its largest fleet in 20 years

The Superyacht Cup Palma Richard Mille has reached a new milestone on its 30th anniversary, with 24 yachts registered—the largest fleet in nearly two decades—and a waiting list now open. The event, taking place June 24–27 at the Club de Mar-Mallorca, solidifies its position as Europe’s premier regatta for superyachts.

A full starting grid confirms the excellent momentum of the Superyacht Cup Palma Richard Mille, Europe’s longest-running superyacht regatta. The organizers have confirmed 24 entries, a figure not seen in nearly twenty years, underscoring the event’s international appeal. The opening of a waiting list further underscores the growing interest in participating in a competition that has successfully evolved without losing its essence.

In the words of Kate Branagh, the event’s owner and director, this anniversary represents “a testament to the enduring appeal of owner-managed regattas,” highlighting the importance of maintaining a diverse and competitive fleet alongside an exclusive social experience on shore.

Technical diversity and new competition categories

One of the most notable features of this edition is the wide range of boat types in the fleet. In addition to the traditional classes, the iconic J-Class will be competing, along with a new multihull division making its debut in 2026 with four boats, reflecting the event’s adaptation to evolving design trends and contemporary naval architecture.

Of particular note is the inclusion of a dedicated division for YYachts, with eight boats competing in their own class. The German brand is also joining as an official “Partner” of the event, further strengthening its ties to the regatta.

The company’s founder, Michael Schmidt, has emphasized the symbolic significance of this participation, highlighting the alignment between the regatta’s philosophy—which focuses on the boat owner and pure performance—and the company’s DNA.

Palma, a leading venue for technical events

Beyond the numbers, the Bay of Palma remains one of the event’s greatest assets. Its stable wind and sea conditions provide an ideal racing course for this type of boat, combining technical challenge with spectacular racing.

Captain Guy Standbridge, a regular participant aboard the ‘Axia’, highlights precisely this balance: an environment that allows superyachts to reach their full potential in a highly competitive and high-level race. He also emphasizes the unique relationship between owner and skipper, a hallmark of this regatta that defines its competitive yet collaborative spirit.

With five divisions competing and notable names such as ‘Aini,’ ‘Allegra,’ ‘Svea,’ and ‘Win Win,’ the fleet for this 30th edition is poised to become one of the most memorable in the event’s recent history. The combination of tradition, innovation, and sporting excellence cements the Superyacht Cup Palma Richard Mille as a must-attend event on the international regatta calendar.
