Have you ever dreamed of following in King Felipe VI’s footsteps aboard the Hispania? Your sailing dreams can come true thanks to LV Yachting, the yacht charter company whose fleet includes the Vantanera—a high-performance sailboat from Wally Yachts designed with a single purpose: to take you to the top of the podium in a regatta. It is one of the few sailboats on the market that can be chartered to compete in high-level ocean races, with a crew of industry veterans on board to help make that happen.

“Vantanera gives you the opportunity to take part in a superyacht regatta without having to own your own boat, and that’s what makes it unique in this market,” charter broker Lucy Jackson of LV Yachting explained to Robb Report. “Our crew manages the boat professionally to ensure everything runs smoothly, but the experience itself depends entirely on how involved the guests want to be.”
The Vantanera was originally launched in 2003 and underwent major refits in 2008 and 2025. Designed by German Frers and built by CNB under the direction of Luca Bassani, founder of Wally Yachts, it features a carbon-fiber hull and superstructure, a Southern Spars mast with a Park Avenue boom, ECsix carbon rigging, and a complete set of North Sails, for both racing and cruising. Her navigation electronics include a B&G H5000 processor and instruments, Simrad charts at both helm stations, and a Starlink connection.

On the main deck, the sailboat features a central cockpit with an outdoor dining area, twin helms, and a fold-down swim platform at the stern with direct access to the sea. The spacious teak decks also offer plenty of room for sunbathing and relaxing. Below deck, there is a bright, open-concept salon with large windows, and a total of three en-suite cabins—a spacious owner’s cabin aft and two double guest cabins forward—accommodating up to 8 guests, as well as a galley, crew quarters, and a navigation area. Notable onboard nautical equipment includes a 4-meter, 110 CV Naumatec tender, an Awake Rävik S electric surfboard, water skis, a wakeboard, inflatables, a wing foil, and snorkeling gear.

The Vantanera can be chartered for both cruises and regattas. To compete, a minimum of eight professionals is required on board, either with the boat’s full crew or with a crew provided by the charter owner. Oliver Kobale, co-founder of Austrian Ocean Racing and with 12 Atlantic crossings under his belt, serves as captain.
Guests can participate in the sailing as much as they like. The yacht has already competed in two regattas: the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta and the Cyclades Cup, both held in May and June 2026. “Both regattas were a great success, and the charter guests were very satisfied,” adds Jackson. “The captain is also looking to improve his rating to be more competitive in the next regatta by having the boat undergo a full measurement,” he concludes.
The calendar of events in which the Vantanera could compete includes, among others, the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup (September 6–12), Les Voiles de St. Tropez (September 28–October 3), the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (November 22–December 20), and, in 2027, events such as the St. Barth’s Bucket and the Superyacht Challenge Antigua. The charter experience goes beyond simply crossing the finish line in first place. Regattas often feature owner dinners and crew parties, giving those sailing on the Vantanera the opportunity to mingle with other lovers of the sea.
The weekly rate for the Vantanera is 58,000 euros for cruising or 85,000 euros for racing (with a crew of four). The boat will be able to compete in at least eight regattas over the next nine months. For more information, contact LV Yachting.
