PortsIB has approved and authorized the environmental improvement project proposed by the Fornells Yacht Club to install a seawater supply system for vessel cleaning at the Ses Salines dock, a project with a budget of over 15,000 euros.
The initiative aims to optimize ship maintenance tasks by using seawater, thereby reducing fresh water consumption and promoting more efficient water resource management, according to the Regional Ministry of the Sea and the Water Cycle.
According to the documentation submitted by the club, the project also contributes to modernizing the facilities and strengthening its commitment to environmental protection and conservation.
The project involves the installation of a new saltwater network on the existing pier, with the water drawn directly from the harbor’s surface. The system will include a supply pump, water distribution along the pier, and supply to existing service points, as well as the electrical equipment necessary for its operation.
The planned investment amounts to €15,242 and the estimated execution period is one month. The technical reports from PortsIB have concluded that the works will not affect port operations or third parties and do not constitute a substantial alteration of the currently authorized facilities.
