Bellver Castle was the venue chosen by the Palma Hotel Association to host the gala celebrating its 50th anniversary on Thursday, May 28. The event was attended by nearly 300 guests from the business, tourism, institutional, retail, restaurant, and airline sectors, and served as the setting for the unveiling of the association’s new brand identity, “Palma Hotels.”
According to the association, the event—attended by the president of the regional government, Marga Prohens, and the mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez—served to highlight the role of the hotel sector as a “driving force behind Palma’s transformation,” recognize the individuals and companies that have contributed to its growth as a tourist destination, and unveil the new brand identity, as well as to celebrate half a century of “history, transformation, and commitment” to the city.
Palma, an international tourist destination
Francisco Serrano, president of the Palma Hoteliers Association, emphasized that the gala “celebrates much more than just an anniversary: 50 years of shared history, hard work, transformation, and commitment to Palma.”
“If Palma is now an international tourist destination, open 365 days a year, it is thanks to the vision, hard work, and courage of those who came before us,” he emphasized.
Serrano has advocated for a tourism model based on quality, excellence, sustainability, and responsibility, arguing that tourism “must be, now more than ever, a force for progress, sustainability, and unity among people.”
In addition, regarding the new identity, he explained that it represents a natural evolution for the Association, which “wants to look toward the future with a more modern, open, and international image” but “without losing its essence or its commitment to Palma.”
During the ceremony, the Association’s Gold Medals were awarded posthumously to Marilén Pol, former president of the Mallorca Hotel Business Federation (FEHM); to Javier Vich, the current president of FEHM; and to Gonzalo Echevarría, a prominent figure in the history of the Palma Hotel Association.
