Forbes Balearic Islands List | The Balearic Islands' Leaders in Luxury Tourism in Spain

The Balearic Islands is the region where tourism contributes the most to the economy: no less than 45% of the regional GDP. In 2025, the most successful year in its already successful history as a tourist destination, the archipelago welcomed more than 19 million foreign tourists, who generated cumulative spending exceeding 21 billion euros.

In this regard, the Balearic Islands have been positioning themselves in recent years as a premium destination that attracts tourists who generate high added value, thanks to the momentum of public-private partnerships, the islands’ business community—which has been a true generator of companies and industry trends for over half a century—and a commitment to service and attention to travelers that ensures the Balearic Islands remain at the top of millions of people’s travel wish lists every year.

Furthermore, the Balearic Islands have definitively shed their reputation as a mass-market destination to establish a model increasingly geared toward high-end tourism. Approximately 22.5% of luxury visits to Spain are to the Balearic Islands, and this type of tourism now accounts for nearly 25% of international spending on the islands. And this is largely thanks to the talent, hard work, and commitment of the Balearic leaders featured on Forbes Travel’s list of Spain’s 50 Luxury Tourism Leaders.
