Gabriel Escarrer, president and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, and Argentine soccer player Leo Messi met in Miami to take stock of the first year of the partnership between the Majorcan hotel chain and the Inter Miami star, as well as to review their joint expansion plans.
The meeting took place after the match between Inter Miami and San Diego FC, in which Messi scored, and during which Escarrer shared a photo with the player to celebrate the one-year anniversary of MiM Hotels joining The Meliá Collection.
As Escarrer explained on his LinkedIn profile, this is “the perfect time to take stock and look toward the future, reviewing our joint expansion plans, and to reaffirm the importance of having the best partners—which usually means having the best people, as is the case here.”
“Thanks as always, genius!” the executive added. Since November 1, 2025, Meliá has been managing the MiM Hoteles properties under The Meliá Collection brand as part of its growth strategy.
Currently, the soccer player’s hotel chain consists of six hotels located in Sitges, Ibiza, Mallorca, Baqueira, Sotogrande, and Andorra.
The meeting takes place on the first anniversary of an agreement that both partners have viewed positively since its announcement, when Messi noted that the partnership “will improve the experience for everyone.“
