This week, the exclusive piers of Marina Ibiza are hosting the sixth edition of the Ibiza JoySail, Spain’s largest superyacht regatta, which this year will bring together a spectacular fleet of 19 yachts ranging in length from 80 to 147 feet.
One of the key factors that has made this regatta one of the most sought-after in the Mediterranean is that the organizers have decided to limit the number of participants to ensure the quality of the regatta both on the water and ashore. As a result, there is a waiting list of yachts hoping to make their debut at this exclusive event in a future edition.
“In each edition, we want to bring together a very diverse range of boats, combining some of the most competitive projects on the circuit with vessels that compete while maintaining their cruising configuration. This balance is one of Ibiza JoySail’s distinctive features,” explains renowned sailor Nacho Postigo, the regatta director.
Southern Wind will be the most represented shipyard, with seven vessels, while Nautor’s Swan will have four. The fleet also includes vessels built by Vitters Shipyard, Baltic Yachts, Claasen, Pendennis Shipyard, Oyster, Wally, Y Yachts and J.O.M. Holland.
Among the Ibiza JoySail regulars returning to the waters of the Pitiüses to compete for the title are Aurelius, Cervo, Gelliceaux, Liberty Squared, Moat, Morgana, and Nostromo. Alongside them, the sixth edition will feature a significant group of newcomers, including Bella, Fortissimo II, Atalante, Inoui, Kalantis, Kiboko III, Nefertiti, Ocho, Point Counter Point, Rose, Starfall, and Win Win.
Boat owners are invited to compete with their vessels in their usual cruising configuration, preserving the practical and authentic character of these boats. This Corinthian philosophy allows owners and crews to enjoy the competition without compromising the essence of their vessels.
This year’s fleet is spectacular. You can see the teams that aspire to win their class, as well as those who simply want to enjoy a great experience on the water. Regardless of the results, everyone enjoys the friendly and camaraderie-filled atmosphere ashore. The fact that we have managed to attract both high-performance boats and cruising yachts makes the entire organizing team feel very proud, adds Postigo.
One of the new features for 2026 is the introduction of the Owner-Skipper Trophy in each category. The award will be given to the first boat in each category whose skipper is also the owner, provided the skipper remains at the helm for the majority of the races, including the start.
The sports program has already begun to take shape with the Perpetual Trophy, an event that has become an exciting prelude to the main regatta. Between August 15 and September 16, participants have been able to tackle the 48-nautical-mile course between Punta Cala Figuera, in Mallorca, and Tagomago, in Ibiza, with the goal of completing the route in the shortest possible time.
