The RIU Hotels & Resorts chain has reopened the Riu Palace Peninsula in the Cancun hotel zone after a complete renovation of its facilities.
The renovation of the hotel, which has been in operation since 2012, has included a complete transformation of its 618 rooms and common areas, as well as the introduction of the exclusive Elite Club service and the improvement of its dining options.
With this major renovation, RIU reaffirms its presence in Cancún, a destination where it already has six hotels, while in Quintana Roo it now has a total of 15 of the 23 hotels it operates in Mexico.
Additionally, the company is currently working on the complete renovation of the Riu Palace Mexico in Playa del Carmen and on the construction of its new fourth hotel in Costa Mujeres, the Riu Palace Quintana Roo; the state is home to nearly 8,000 of the 14,000 employees the company has in Mexico.
The renovation project has redesigned the hotel's interiors and, as a key new feature in the luxury segment, the resort has introduced the Elite Club concept for adult guests. In terms of dining, the Riu Palace Peninsula expands its offerings to nine restaurants and seven bars. New additions include the 'American Country' style dining area at the Sports Bar and the Candy ice cream parlor.
