The Council of Mallorca has allocated three lines of funding totaling 2.8 million euros to finance projects for the conservation, maintenance, and restoration of the cultural landscape of the Serra de Tramuntana.
According to a statement issued by the island authorities, the grants are aimed at individuals, farms, municipalities, non-profit organizations, and land management organizations.
Among the main new features, the calls for proposals aimed at private individuals and municipalities include, for the first time, a specific funding line for works on the traditional water supply network, with a maximum grant of 25,000 euros per project.
Additionally, before the technicians’ first visit, the reconstruction of dry-stone banks and walls will be permitted when the damage is the result of storms, compromises safety, or impedes access to trails or paths.
Another new development is the extension, until March 31, 2027, of the deadline for carrying out and providing proof of the subsidized activities.
In the case of municipalities, the deadline for preparing or updating municipal catalogs has been extended to two years, with a maximum grant of 15,000 euros available to hire specialized technical teams.
Regarding the call for proposals addressed to land conservation organizations, the maximum grant remains at 10,000 euros per project. Eligible projects must be carried out during 2026, and the deadline for submitting expense reports is January 30, 2027.
Additionally, organizations applying for grants for promotional activities must incorporate products bearing the Serra de Tramuntana brand.
Toni Fuster, Regional Minister of the Presidency and Vice President of the Serra de Tramuntana Consortium, has emphasized that this budget demonstrates “the Regional Government’s commitment to protecting the territory and heritage of the Serra de Tramuntana.”
