The Balearic Cultural Foundation (OCB) will hold a concert in honor of Joan Alcover at the Seu de Mallorca next Sunday at 8:00 PM.

According to a statement issued by the organization, the event is part of the centennial commemorations of the poet’s death and the premiere of the musical adaptation of his poem ‘La Balanguera’.

On this occasion, the OCB has scheduled the concert to coincide with the centenary of the work’s first performance in Mallorca, which took place on June 28, 1926, at the Teatre Líric de Palma.

The program includes a performance of Antoni Mairata’s symphony ‘La Serra de Tramuntana’ by the Balearic Islands Youth Orchestra, the University of the Balearic Islands Choir, and the Sant Joan Choir.

The second part of the evening will be dedicated to ‘La Balanguera’, with music by Amadeu Vives, featuring the Porrerenca Philharmonic and the Xeremiers of the Mallorca School of Music and Dance.
