The QS World University Rankings 2027 includes UIB among the top 1,400 universities in the world

The University of Barcelona is the first public university to appear in this prestigious international ranking

The University of the Balearic Islands is ranked between 1,201st and 1,400th among the best universities in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2027, a ranking that evaluates more than 1,500 higher education institutions.

The consulting firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) is responsible for compiling this international ranking; in the area of research and discovery, it awards the UIB a score of 12.1 out of 100 for academic citations per faculty and a score of 7.9 for academic reputation.

In the ‘learning experience’ section, the student-to-academic-staff ratio scores 40.4; in the ’employability’ section, the university receives a score of 3.2 for employer reputation and 4.5 for graduate employment. Regarding the international research network, it scores 66.3, and for sustainability, 34.6.

The ranking is headed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (United States), followed by Imperial College London, Stanford University (United States), the University of Oxford (Great Britain), and Harvard (United States).

The University of Barcelona is the best-ranked public university, occupying 165th place, and 68th among European institutions, followed by the Complutense University of Madrid (199), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (211), the Autonomous University of Madrid (226), Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona (263), and the University of Navarra (279).

They are followed by the Carlos III University of Madrid (314), the Polytechnic University of Madrid (364), the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (434), the Polytechnic University of Valencia (434), IE University (446), the University of Granada (447), the University of Valencia (447), Ramon Llull University in Barcelona (474), and the University of Seville (485).

They are followed by the University of Salamanca (560), Comillas Pontifical University (643), the University of the Basque Country (677), the University of Zaragoza (701–710), the University of Alcalá (731–740), the University of Vigo (801–850), Rovira i Virgili University of Tarragona (851–900), the University of Alicante (851–900), the University of Oviedo (901–950), the European University of Madrid (901–950), UIC Barcelona (901–950), the University of Córdoba (951–1,000), and the University of Valladolid (901–1,000), which complete the list of Spanish universities ranked among the top 1,000.
