The Executive Board of the Palma City Council has approved the preliminary plan to convert the former prison into a temporary housing block for professionals, after the eviction of the people who were living there.
The spokesperson for the municipal governing team, Mercedes Celeste, explained at the press conference following the Government Board meeting that the decision to launch the bidding process for the preparation of the basic design and construction plans for the project had also been approved.
The project provides for the creation of 139 social housing units designed to address the difficulties that certain professional groups have in accessing housing.
“This agreement marks another step toward making a reality an initiative that will allow us to continue expanding Palma’s public housing stock and, in addition, offer housing solutions adapted to current needs,” Celeste emphasized.
The spokesperson did not provide further details about the project, explaining that the City Council will soon hold a press conference to detail its scope.
