The Palma City Council has organized a series of activities for June 4 and 5, the dates on which World Environment Day is celebrated, which include a session on how to rescue marine animals and visits to the Aula de la Mar.

Under the slogan 'A morning to learn, discover, and care for our Mediterranean together,' the events aim to raise public awareness about the marine environment and teach people to both appreciate the biodiversity of the Mediterranean and 'identify the main threats that endanger this unique environment,' the City Council explained in a statement.

The activities, all of which are free, are aimed at all audiences and especially families and schools, as a wide variety of content will be offered.

Throughout Thursday, June 4, at Can Pere Antoni Beach, a dolphin and turtle rescue drill will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Next, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the "A Sea of Knowledge" activity will take place, followed by the "The Magic of the Sea" session from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

Participants do not need to register in advance; they just need to show up at the tents that will be set up in the area.

As for Friday, June 5, which coincides with the anniversary celebrations, a marine wildlife rescue drill, lasting approximately 50 minutes, will be held at 10:00 AM at Can Pere Antoni and at 12:00 PM at Bathhouse 15 on Palma Beach.

This is an educational and participatory activity that will allow attendees to learn the best way to act when they find a stranded marine animal.

Meanwhile, the Aula de la Mar facilities at Can Salas-Sa Petrolera will host an open house, as a result of a joint initiative by the Balearic Government and the City Council of Palma. The organizers have prepared three time slots for those who wish to attend: from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The program prepared by the City Council to commemorate World Environment Day also includes a concert by the Municipal Band of Palma in Josep Maria Llompart Square, located in the Es Rafal neighborhood, at 7:30 PM.

With a repertoire specially selected for the occasion, the band, under the direction of José Enrique Martínez Esteve, will offer a free performance open to all residents, with the goal of linking culture to building a "more sustainable and healthy" municipality.
