Iberia Express will increase its services to the Balearic Islands during the upcoming winter season, which will run until March 27, with a 38 percent capacity increase in both seats and flights. The Iberia Group airline will offer 827,000 seats and about 200 weekly flights between Madrid and the Balearic Islands, with the goal of improving connectivity for residents and encouraging tourist visits outside of the peak season.
Specifically, the airline will offer up to 12 daily flights in each direction between Madrid and Mallorca and up to six between the capital and Ibiza. The flights will cover different time slots to facilitate both travel between the islands and international connections. This focus on the Balearic Islands is part of a strategy with which Iberia Express aims to maintain a stable flight schedule year-round and help reduce the seasonal nature of tourism.
The increase in services to the islands is part of the company’s overall expansion for the winter season. Iberia Express has scheduled 7 percent more flights than in the same period of 2025 and will offer 12 percent more seats, thanks, among other factors, to greater use of its Airbus A321neo aircraft – the most efficient in its fleet, with a capacity of 232 passengers.
The other engine of growth: the Canary Islands
The Canary Islands will be the other archipelago where the airline will focus much of its growth. Iberia Express will offer more than 1.7 million seats – 29 percent more than in 2025 – following a 25 percent increase in its flights. In total, it will operate 386 weekly flights, with an average of ten flights each way to Gran Canaria and ten more to Tenerife, between its north and south airports.
As for the rest of the Canary Islands, the airline will operate between three and four daily flights in each direction to Lanzarote and between two and three to Fuerteventura. Service to La Palma will operate once a day in each direction, increasing to twice a day during peak demand weeks. The expansion of services to both archipelagos has the dual objective of improving transport connections for residents and facilitating the arrival of visitors during the winter months.
International growth
Outside of Spain, the main capacity increases will be concentrated in Dublin and Marrakech. The route to the Irish capital will increase by 46 percent, reaching 79,000 seats, while the service to the Moroccan city will increase by 43 percent, to 100,000. Additionally, Iberia Express will move up the start of its seasonal route to Reykjavik: for the first time, it will begin operating on February 27, allowing passengers to travel directly from Madrid to Iceland to enjoy its snow-covered landscapes and increase their chances of seeing the Northern Lights.
