The women’s team from Donostia Arraun Lagunak and the men’s team from Orio were crowned champions in their respective categories at the 2026 Bandera de La Concha, keeping both trophies in Gipuzkoa for the second consecutive year. The regatta, held this Sunday in the waters off San Sebastián, confirmed the dominance of the two boats throughout the season.
Arraun, fifth flag and fourth in a row
In the women’s category, the Lugañene, captained by Nagore Osoro, pushed her rowers to the limit from the start of the race with an explosive and consistent style. Only San Juan managed to put up a fight: after the turn, the Bateleras managed to cut the lead down to two seconds at one point on the return leg, but Arraun knew how to manage its lead and ended up winning by a comfortable margin.
With this victory, Arraun has won its fifth La Concha Flag (its fourth in a row) and now shares the top spot on the competition’s all-time list with Galicia and San Juan. Zierbena rounded out the women’s podium in third place.
Orio, total dominance in the men’s division
In the men’s race, Orio and Donostiarra were neck and neck at the start, but Orio soon pulled ahead. Skipper Gorka Aranberri, who already has eleven La Concha Flags to his credit, cheered on his rowers while Arkaitz Díaz watched as the San Nikolas set the pace with an iron fist.
The team from San Sebastián managed to even the score seven minutes into the race, but the Orio team gradually pulled ahead, especially after the turn. Orio thus celebrated its 34th La Concha Flag with a smooth final leg.
